Positioned about 13 miles north of the proposed PTT Global Chemical ethane cracker plant in eastern Ohio, Wheeling, West Virginia, could become a corporate headquarters for companies that may follow the development of the plant, according to The Intelligencer.
Wheeling has a few former industrial areas that could be repurposed for new business associated with the ethane cracker. Mayor Glenn Elliott said having “a lot of office space” downtown gives the city a solid chance to attract interest from companies in the shale business. The former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. headquarters on Market Street, is one possibility.
Additionally, Wheeling could also serve as a place of residence for workers involved with the development.
