Last month TransCanada Corp. announced plans to move forward with the $1.9 billion expansion of its Nova Gas Transmission Line, increasing pipeline access for producers in western Canada’s “gas-rich basins,” according to Reuters.

The Nova Gas Transmission Line moves natural gas from Alberta and British Columbia to markets across North America. The expansion will boost its western Canadian export capacity by 1 billion cubic feet per day.

The expansion will also connect new supplies in the Montney and Duvernay formations, which some producers believe could rival the most prolific U.S. shale fields, including the Marcellus and Utica shale plays.
