Energy Transfer Partners LP’s Sunoco Mariner East 1 pipeline was given permission to return to service on Thursday when the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission voted to reverse its suspension tied to safety concerns, according to Reuters.

Sinkholes discovered near the pipeline in West Whiteland Township prompted Pennsylvania Senator Andrew Dinniman to ask from an emergency order to suspend service. Answering the call to action, the PUC stopped flows on the Mariner East 1.

Although the emergency order was recently overturned by a unanimous vote from all five PUC commissioners, putting the Mariner East 1 back into service, three of the five commissioners voted to prevent ETP from working on the Mariner East 2 and 2X pipelines in West Whiteland Township.
