Higher oil prices helped increase Chesapeake Energy Corp.’s Utica Shale oil and natural gas production during the three months ending March 31, 2018, according to The Youngstown Business Journal.

Chesapeake produced an average of 11,000 barrels of oil and 440 million cubic feet of natural gas per day from its Utica wells during the first quarter of 2018 compared to 8,000 barrels of oil and 380 million cubic feet of natural gas during the first three months of 2017, according to the company.

Chesapeake said it currently operates two rigs in the Utica region and placed 10 wells into production there during the first quarter.
